Transliteration[edit]

@Rhosnes, Khronicle I, and Nauseous Man:, hi friends. I've noticed there is some conflict on the correct transliteration of his name, particularly regarding Olehovych. You've all edited on this page (including around transliteration) and may have a perspective here. We should come to one transliteration and stick with it. Kia ora @Tomorrow and tomorrow: I think the users you have pinged (and I agree) is Sergiy Olehovych Kyslytsya. One user, @2600:1702:3070:22e0:31f1:4486:5d0d:786f: said that it should be with a g - as per their edit summary "Another typo of the same type, an "h" where transliteration should have had a "g". His father was Oleg, not Oleh. Olegovych is therefore his middle name, not "Olehovych"

@Tomorrow and tomorrow, Khronicle I, and Nauseous Man:According to this this article, the only possible correct transliterations are Serhiy Olehovych Kyslystsya/Kyslytsia/Kyslytsja. However, the transliteration variant Sergiy (which is technically incorrect) is already established in the English language as well as in the media, so it makes sense to keep it. As for his patronymic, however, there is no reason that we shouldn't stick to phonetic accuracy. IP's comments are misleading ─ Serhiy's father is called Олег, which is most accurately transliterated as "Oleh". So the patronymic transliteration variant "Olehovych" is justified. @Tomorrow and tomorrow, Nauseous Man, and Rhosnes: Serhiy would be the proper transliteration of Сергій, but keeping in line with WP:COMMONNAME and to remain consistent with the rest of the page, Sergiy is a better transliteration. I would suggest, Sergiy Olehovych Kyslytsya with a note next to Sergiy saying that it could also be transliterated as Serhiy. Khronicle I (talk) 11:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
