Liturgical Reforms[edit]

The phrasing "This took effect in 1970 in the Catholic Church and six years later the Anglican Churches", implies that the changes introduced for the Roman Catholic Church by Vatican II were required of the Anglican Communion--something which is incorrect. I would rather this phrased as "Six years later the Anglican Churches† followed suit".

† - which Churches, by the way? Is it all?

rewording of comment about Gloria and Te Deum?[edit]

Currently, I find this:

As during Advent and Lent, the Gloria and Te Deum are no longer said on Sundays.

I'd revise it myself except that I am not as familiar with Te Deum, which is not part of Mass. The Gloria is not said at all in Mass of the season on any day in Advent, pre-Lent, or Lent (except on Holy Thursday), but is said on feasts which occur during those periods. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.82 (talk) 18:54, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Te Deum, which is said at the end of Matins, follows the same rule as the Gloria - if the Gloria is said at Mass, the Te Deum is said at Matins. The two exceptions are Holy Thursday, when the Gloria is said at Mass but the Te Deum is not said, and (until 1960) on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, which before then was celebrated in violet vestments and the Te Deum was not said at Matins (except if the feast fell on Sunday), although the Gloria was still said at Mass. Eastern Orthodox Septuagesima[edit]

The article isn't terribly clear as to how Septuagesima is calculated in Eastern Orthodox churches or whether it is even celebrated, or if there is merely an equivalent celebrated. Can anyone clarify? Asarelah (talk) 16:16, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Protestant Septuagesima[edit]

Do the Protestant denominations use the same date as Roman Catholics do? Asarelah (talk) 16:18, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. (With, I guess, the possible exception of Protestants in Julian-Calendar-dominated countries.)--131.159.76.172 (talk) 19:20, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
