Why Senecio then and not ECAST? One of Paul Klee's paintings was named Senecio and the only information that I found online about this was an essay question that inferred that Klee felt himself to be like the plant. So far, most of the species I have read about are non-aggressive, they seem to (mostly) flourish when other plants fail, making them appear to be aggressive. Indicator plants. The rest of the time, for being the largest group of Asteraceae (no matter what new genus they get moved to) they co-exist very non-aggressively. This makes me want to know about the painter (and perhaps other old people) who expand in drought and flood and not about the software spam. -- carol (talk) 04:48, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dreadful English[edit]

Does anyone have time to edit this article? It's written in really poor English. The punctuation ... oh, dear. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.68.94.86 (talk) 20:55, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Genus Shuffle[edit]

If anyone has any ideas about how to handle the genus shuffle that has occurred and is occurring, this would be a good place to give your ideas.

The problem is that much of the information so far does not use one name or another. Heh, and it looks like the horticulturalists somewhat expose themselves (I will find that original book or paper!) by using different set of scientific name (sometimes) than the research communities did.

My idea was to list the more often mentioned renamed species in a list on the different genus articles. Example:

Senecio

  • Senecio cineraria
    • Cineraria maritima
    • Jacobaea maritima
    • Othonna maritima
  • Senecio congestus
    • Othonna palustris
    • Tephroseris palustris
  • Senecio jacobaea
    • Jacobaea vulgaris
  • Senecio kleinia
    • Kleinia neriifolia

Jacobaea

  • Jacobaea maritima
    • Othonna maritima
    • Senecio cineraria
    • Cineraria maritima
  • Jacobaea vulgaris
    • Senecio jacobaea

Kleinia

  • Kleinia neriifolia
    • Senecio kleinia

Othonna

  • Othonna palustris
    • Senecio congestus
    • Tephroseris palustris
  • Othonna maritima
    • Senecio cineraria
    • Cineraria maritima
    • Jacobaea maritima

Tephroseris

  • Tephroseris palustris
    • Othonna palustris
    • Senecio congestus

Senecio jacobaea[edit]

I am not at all sure that the photograph captioned as 'Common Ragwort' in the article 'Senecio' is really common ragwort (Senecio jacobaea. It does not look like the one in Britain. Can anyone offer enlightenment?87.85.132.50 (talk) 21:26, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Luke Wiseman[reply]
