Suggested additions[edit]

I would like to suggest adding sections about "Mechanism" and "Adverse Effects." These are not commonly discussed in psychological assessment contexts, but they are part of the WP:MEDRS for medical assessments. I think that it would be worth describing here, and then articles about specific self report inventories could link back here for detail. That would use the programming idea of DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) and also would increase the number of internal links for each page.

There are a variety of other topics that could be introduced here, including

Social desirability
Acquiescence (discussed as a possible contributor to the cultural differences in Big Five personality scores)
Response set
Face validity
Reactivity
Fatigue and burden effects
Mood induction or distress due to reflecting about sensitive topics

It also would be worth linking to pages about standardization and norms, observational measurements, psychophysiological measurements, Multitrait-Multimethod (MTMM) models, etc.

Removing link[edit]

I'm removing the link to the CIHL self-report test. I think it would be best to keep the list of tests to those backed by psychometric research. If I'm mistaken in removing it, feel free to add it again if you can provide some information to back it up.Dlmccaslin 04:37, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Self report versus rating of symptoms by third party[edit]

I'm not sure if the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale is a self report inventory as the scale is rated by a mental health professional who observes symptoms directly as well as asking questions based on the scale. 80.43.18.222 07:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
