Name change[edit]

Orange County Performing Arts Center has been renamed Segerstrom Center for the Arts, this needs to be deleted to make way for the move. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RadioFan (talkcontribs)

Name change[edit]

Because the talk page discussion is apparently no longer available, can someone explain the reason for the name change from Orange County Performing Arts Center to Segerstrom Center for the Arts? There is a brief mention here, but the facility's web site still refers to itself as OCPAC. Alanraywiki (talk) 02:06, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at Google, some sites are saying Segerstrom Center for the Arts others the other name, but you're right the center's site itself is still shown as Orange County Performing Arts Center. Probably the website was not changed/updated, which sometimes happens when there are name changes or maybe I was a bit too fast for the move. Though an update in the article would be necessary with a source for the change. I've restored the comment left by User:RadioFan on the previous page added the name change of the facility. I've mentionned on the move edit summary if there was any mistake to contact me - so maybe it was a mistake by me. Maybe User:RadioFan can add more about the change. In addition to the web site still showing OCPAC, I could not find an announcement about changing the name of the building in the local paper (Orange County Register). I recommend changing it back until at least until their own web site changes its name. There should not be a rush to change the article name. Alanraywiki (talk) 06:06, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In reading more on RadioFan's talk page, I'm understanding more that an editor is indicating OCPAC is still named that, however it is becoming part of a larger campus. It would seem appropriate to wait until there is a citation before changing the article name, though. Alanraywiki (talk) 06:16, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
