This could have been written mostly from memory and hence would not have references to cite. I'm on a professional conference call right now where an engineer is describing playing this game and how technically correct and impressive it was.

DEC Alpha?[edit]

The Atari 8-bit machines didn't really have an operating system. The game was written in the BASIC dialect understood by the machine's ROM.
