Cantorum?[edit]

The most recent translation of "Cantorum" in the article is "Cantors", but that is an ambiguous term. The first meaning is "singers", - why not used that? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:10, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ps: The website makes no effort to translate the name to either German or English. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:14, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think the translation of the name should be deleted. I am an alum in the US and formerly lived in the UK. I the English-speaking world the school is always called the "Schola Cantorum" or simply the "Schola" without translation. I think the translation, especially using "cantors" is misleading and unnecessary. --HenryPurcell (talk) 14:39, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like this translation of the name of the school goes back to the Revision as of 13:32, 28 July 2015 (edit) Fusaladin. I think it should be reverted or the translation deleted, but I am not sure of the best way to go about this. --HenryPurcell (talk) 02:22, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:17, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Faculty[edit]

Why is the nationality of the faculty members even slightly important, much less so important that they are listed in order of nationality? --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 05:31, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality of faculty members is probably interesting to many, because the school has an unusually high rate of international faculty. However, it would make more sense to organize them by instrument. --HenryPurcell (talk) 00:27, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That wouldn't work so well; half the names are multi-instrumentalists. What's wrong with just alphabetical order? Also, the source for the list is fine for current instructors, but not for the past instructors; and why should there be a list of lutenists that have studied there? I know why it's important -- SCB is essentially the center of that universe -- but there's nothing in the article that suggest why this is special. Perhaps someone knowledgeable could find a good source in the literature for the importance of the lute instruction here? --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 00:41, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
