Untitled[edit]

The latency numbers quoted 125ms for geostationary satellites is a one-way number (from earth to satellite) 22000/186000. It would be more meaningful to quote the up/down number of 220ms. Not knowing LEO well I can't comment on the 1-4ms, but that does seem like a very large dispersion from min to max.

Communications satellite constellations: all or only proposed/new ones?[edit]

I find section 3: "Communications satellite constellations" is confusing.

The list is incomplete and only covers some constellations that are proposed or in construction (though Iridium Next is at this time operational). For example Globalstar (fully operational) and the Amazon Kuiper constellation (proposal submitted to FCC) are not included.

I propose dividing the list into three sections: defunct proposals or constellations, proposed constellations, and operational constellations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick the engineer (talkcontribs) 17:38, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Either merge Satellite internet constellation into this article under Satellite constellation#Communications satellite constellations, or move some or all of the content of that section to Satellite internet constellation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.158.90.245 (talk) 23:25, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree that it is confusing to have the two separate articles. - Dyork (talk) 20:22, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

Proposing that Orbital shell (spaceflight) be merged here, as the topics are complementary. Note that this proposal arose from an earlier failed proposal at Talk:Orbit#Merger proposal 7 April 2020, based on a suggestion (which I support) from Mathglot. I quite agree Satbuff (talk) 14:00, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sentinel program[edit]

Hi, it seems that Sentinel Program Satellite Constellation is missing on this article. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copernicus_Programme) Where can we put it ? Briskola (talk) 09:05, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Briskola: (or other editors interested in this) - Hmm... in reviewing Copernicus_Programme#Sentinel_missions it seems from what I can read that each of the Sentinel missions is for a specific duration and only using 2 satellites. Is that really a "constellation"? I'm not sure. It seems more like a collection of a bunch of different satellites from the same company. Does anyone know if there a vision for how these will all work together in a way more like other constellations? - Dyork (talk) 20:34, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
