satellite beach is not a barrier island, rather a peninsula, and the Indian river is a lagoon

Pictures[edit]

Pictures are great BUT need captions which clearly tie them in to Satellite Beach and not just "general atmosphere." Student7 (talk) 23:42, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tried titling them but I can't tie them to SB.
Fireworks, if that is what it is, is pretty but distracting to the article. s/b rm. Student7 (talk) 23:49, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Most pictures are clearly not taken of Satellite Beach, but from Satellite Beach, or of fauna/flora that could be just about anywhere. The latter is fine for an article on the fauna/flora itself, but not obviously germane to Satellite Beach. Student7 (talk) 15:01, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Public works[edit]

A fragment reads, "The City's Public Works Department will be making segment repairs to an array of walkways in early 2014.[29] The Public Works Department is also in phase II of a project to improve beach access and infrastructure. The project includes plans to install decorative paved brick crosswalks, sidewalks, new showers, bike racks, palm trees, updated signage, and a new park."

This is essentially the definition of a Public Works department. It maintains and improves public infrastructure within the city. What we try to do in Wikipedia is to insert the differences between cities, not the same-ness. It would be more informative to say, the "Public Works Department has been accused of doing nothing by X (cite)." That would be worth reporting, because it would be different.

Having said that, "paved brick crosswalks" may be part of a federal government support for Tactile paving. And may be funded therefrom. Tactile paving would need updating. They seem to be doing this everywhere in the US. Student7 (talk) 22:44, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite needed[edit]

The History and Government sections of this article need a complete rewrite. They read more like a community calendar and less like the sections they are intended to resemble. In particular, the Government section contains absolutely NO information about Satellite Beach's government structure. Erzahler (talk) 17:29, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the History section seems like a completely random assortment of events that has happened, mostly after 1994. I went there looking to see how the city got it's name, and what it was called before its current name, and nothing even close to that was in the History section.
