Sasser or Saser Pass?[edit]

User:DLinth recently changed the spelling of Sasser to Saser throughout the article claiming the latter is by far the most common spelling of the name. A quick check of several references I have here mentioning the pass use only the spelling "Sasser". Another quick check on Google turned up 3,300 entries for "Sasser Pass", but only 718 for "Saser Pass". So, on this basis, I reversed the changes made. If anyone has some real evidence showing that "Saser" is "the most common spelling by far", please present it here. Sincerely, John Hill (talk) 12:13, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your Google search got mostly Spanish use of "Sasser". An English language search on "Saser La" vs. "Sasser La", a much more valid search than "Saser Pass" vs. "Sasser Pass", returns 900+ Saser La, 400+ Sasser La, but most of the Sasser La results are from the common English last name, "Sasser, L.A.", etc.

Bottom line....hits actually refering to the pass, including nearly all maps since the 1800's, use "Saser La" as does the most authoritative books by Kapadia. Maps are a more authoritative source.DLinth (talk) 21:54, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
