Fe or Fé?[edit]

The article states that the 'é' spelling is Portuguese, and indeed the Spanish word is without an accent but the Santa Fé's in Panama, a former Spanish colony, are spelled with an accent. May this have to do with old and new speling? DirkvdM 09:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, before the current standardisation, you could have words like fé and fuí and fué with a completely unnecessary accent. I’ve seen an old Bible with lots of fué. Strictly speaking, the correct spelling of that city’s name is Santa Fe, regardless of local whims. That’s how it works in Spanish. — Chameleon 07:36, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What are "Santa Fe pants"?[edit]

This is an article of clothing, described as long or short pants of cotton cloth (presumably woven rather than knit), with either a drawstring or elasticized waistband.
