Jewish?[edit]

Since his mother is not Jewish, and Judaism is matrilineal, should be be classified as Jewish? AuntFlo (talk) 13:40, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect information in the Personal Life section[edit]

  • What I think should be changed: My grandfather did not die of covid. It is true that my father died of covid. I do not come from a lineage of magicians. This is a fiction that was created for a show called MEDIUM that I did at Riverside Studios. It was written by three writers from the theatre company STOCKROOM. It is fiction, not truth, and I didn’t write the play. This information in the personal life section was quoted from Wikipedia almost verbatim in a profile piece about me in the Guardian today, August 16th 2022. Now that very article in the Guardian is being used as a citation to prove that the above information is correct! When that incorrect information was quoted from Wikipedia in the first place!
  • Why it should be changed: because it is factually incorrect, both about my grandfather dying of covid and that I come from a lineage of magicians and wrote a play about it. None of that is true and has caused distress to my family today.
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): I don’t have any references except that I am Samuel Barnett. You could contact my agent at Curtis Brown to prove all this. I set up the username Amos Hunter some years ago to edit incorrect information on the page and have just been told this is a conflict of interest, which I didn’t know, and I thank the person who told me.

I should also add that my Producer on FEELING AFRAID . . . , Francesca Moody, has contacted the Guardian to ask them to remove and correct the section about my grandad dying from cancer and me writing a show about magicians in my family that the Guardian quoted from Wikipedia. I also recognise that I did some interviews for MEDIUM when the show had a three night try-out at Riverside Studios. Part of the conceit of the play was that the audience went in thinking it was real, that I did come from a lineage of magicians, and then there was a twist at the end where they would realise I didn’t. And so in the interviews about the show I pretended that was the case, and I can of course see why those interviews have been cited as evidence and used as references on Wikipedia. But the show isn’t happening and therefore I’d really appreciate the incorrect information being removed from the page. Amoshunter (talk) 21:10, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Amoshunter: I determined that the part with your ancestors being magicians is just for the theatre[1] and I have removed it (plus I have added MEDIUM to the tables at § Credits). But I'm a little unsure how to fix the the sentence about your grandfather, because Wikipedia originally cited an article by The Stage, which said he passed away from a heart attack. Is that true? ~~ lol1VNIO (I made a mistake? talk to me) 18:40, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
