Hello, my name is Lincoln R. Maiztegui Casas, and my email address is linmaica@hotmail.com. I saw your articule about the folk song "Sam Hall", and I want to make a contribution. These very known song was the main musical theme of the film "Star in the dust", 1956, directed by Charles Hall, with John Agar, Mamie van Dooren and Charles Boone ("Sam Hall") in the main roles. Country of Origin[edit]

Can it be verified that the song is specifically from Ireland? I can't find any information that says anything more precise than it's from the British Isles.

I wondered about this too - other than the declaration in the opening that it’s Irish, the subject matter aeems to suggest otherwise - it may be included in a collection of ballads and found in Ireland, but the article sugests that it traveled the world in its day. Is it not more likely it originated in England, and is it not the same song as “Jack Hall”, [here]? Jock123A (talk) 16:33, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.mustrad.org.uk/vop/notes178.htm The Mustrad notes say "It's appeal seems to have been limited to England and the USA, and there have been only six sound recordings made." i.e. there is no mention of an Irish source.
