We should have an article on every pyramid and every nome in Ancient Egypt. I'm sure the rest of us can think of other articles we should have.

Cleanup.

To start with, most of the general history articles badly need attention. And I'm told that at least some of the dynasty articles need work. Any other candidates?

Standardize the Chronology.

A boring task, but the benefit of doing it is that you can set the dates !(e.g., why say Khufu lived 2589-2566? As long as you keep the length of his reign correct, or cite a respected source, you can date it 2590-2567 or 2585-2563)

Stub sorting

Anyone? I consider this probably the most unimportant of tasks on Wikipedia, but if you believe it needs to be done . . .

Data sorting.

This is a project I'd like to take on some day, & could be applied to more of Wikipedia than just Ancient Egypt. Take one of the standard authorities of history or culture -- Herotodus, the Elder Pliny, the writings of Breasted or Kenneth Kitchen, & see if you can't smoothly merge quotations or information into relevant articles. Probably a good exercise for someone who owns one of those impressive texts, yet can't get access to a research library.

Rivalry[edit]

We have only one scientific reference - Freedman 2014 - for the origin of the Saluki, and that is in the Fertile Crescent. I grow tired of the ongoing Arabian versus Persian changes made to the lede of this article, that use Freedman 2014 as the source. The perpetrators are clearly located in Iran and Arabic countries, based on the results of Geolocate. I encourage this article's watchers to be a bit more diligent and immediately challenge uncited nonsense when it appears in the first paragraph. Breed name capitalization & physical capacity[edit]

Capitalization of breed name should be standard on this page Greyhound/Sloughi/Whippet/Saluki.

The information on 'physical capacity' is either trivial or incorrect. Saluki and Whippet speed over distance should be measured, hence known to be 'faster over longer distance', not 'thought to be.' Whippets are most decidedly not faster over longer distances than Greyhounds. Breed cardiovascular properties, maximal oxygen consumption, muscle fiber properties etc. promote speed and endurance; padded feet not so much. Hawks and falcons used in conjunction with sighthounds do not gouge the eyes out of their prey; they strike at the head of the prey, confusing and slowing it. --Richard Hawkins (talk) 22:22, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Health - genetic weaknesses?[edit]

I was looking for info on genetic weaknesses, since it's kind of a given for any "pure" breed. The article doesn't straight up say "salukis are more likely to get X versus a mongrel." Maybe the history of this breed is long enough that it's been strengthened? Idk. All I found quickly was https://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advice/saluki-dog-hereditary-health-and-average-longevity.html which first states everything's good, then vets say breeders should watch for hip dysplasia, then gives a list of possible genetic conditions. I don't know enough about the breed to reflect reality, and it doesn't give a percentage of incidence vs mongrels. If anyone is interested in doing a better job on health issues I would be grateful.
