Article in front of the country name[edit]

Why does it have the article "the" in front of the country name? Does Arabic work like French, namely requiring article in front of country names, e.g. l'Angleterre? --Squidonius (talk) 08:21, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No idea as to why, though Yemen is called al-Yaman in Arabic. It is fairly common for al or as to preface a place name in Arabic. Not sure if the title of the film was written to reflect the practice or making some artistic point.Wzrd1 (talk) 15:22, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The film title follows the book, but interesting question is why in English the reason for this usage. Speaking personally with of without 'the' both sound correct. Same for 'the' Lebanon.FDent (talk) 16:49, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Flowery language is a bit overboard[edit]

"...Initiating an upstream journey of faith to make the impossible possible" is pretty flowery language to be featured in Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I know very little about the movie and have never even viewed it, but this struck me as a bit ridiculous. Do we really want the opening paragraph to feature a vague salmon analogy?Jtrnp (talk) 18:29, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
