Transliteration of name[edit]

Per WPMOS and transliteration of Kyrgyz to English, Садыкова should really be Sadykova, the ы becomes y, just as in Кыргызстан becoming Kyrgyzstan. She may change it for marketing purposes so that English speakers don't make it a hard y like as in yellow.--Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 07:46, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see what WP:MOS rule are you referring to, but WP:EN says that "The title of an article should generally use the version of the name of the subject which is most common in the English language, as you would find it in reliable sources." The name Sadikova was decided after research, finding that Sadikova is the most common name in English sources, and is the name marketed by the Kyrgyz Music label. Moreover WP:MOS says "Do not use a systematically transliterated or otherwise romanized name if there is a common English form of the name" (bold added for emphasis). In other words, Sadikova may not be standard systematic Kyrgyz transliteration, but it's what is used most often. Anyhow, Sadykova redirects here, so people searching for either will find this article. —CodeHydro 11:58, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
