The idea of a single blogger?[edit]

To suggest that numerous people call cultural assimilation in the United States "a salad bowl" is just plain incorrect. I for one have never heard this before, apart from the single blogger linked to this rather unimaginative page (who I bet probably created this page in the first place.) Problem with NPOV[edit]

"The salad bowl idea in practice has its supporters and detractors. Supporters argue that being American is not inherently tied to a single culture, but rather to citizenship and loyalty to the United States. Thus, one does not need to abandon one's own cultural heritage in order to be considered 'American'. Critics tend to oppose the idea in tandem with other critiques on multiculturalism, saying that America needs to have a common culture in order to preserve a common 'American' identity." This seems to imply that the only reason to believe in the Melting Pot or anything other than the Salad Bowl is because you're racist. Am I just misinterpreting this?
