I added the citation note because there are officers that are below the sergeant rank that are assigned to do investigations, and this source, which was also from after the this edit, and mentioning that before the point of that edit as well, is proof of such in writing. Edit can be reverted, however, if there's any official confirmation that sergeants are the lowest ranked officers doing investigative roles that are called detectives, as elsewhere there are similar situations, with supervisors or intermediate below supervisor ranks, etc being the lowest investigative officers, deputies, or troopers that are classified as detectives, even with lower ones that also do investigations. 70.88.202.1 (talk) 18:04, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
