Coordinates[edit]

Coordinates 49°42′46″N 2°12′23″W / 49.71278°N 2.20639°W / 49.71278; -2.20639 are wrong. It's in Alderney but outside St Anne. Man vyi 06:12, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted. I suppose the problem is that St Anne sprawls over much of Alderney, and it's hard to say where it stops. Last time I was there, houses were being built on the southern edge. One or two fields further, and they'd be on the cliff edge! --MacRusgail 14:01, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've been checking some of the recently added coordinates, and many of the places I'm familiar with have been out - so quite how wide of the mark some of the others are must be open to question. Yes, the coordinates given would probably be within a birdie of St Anne's urban sprawl - but definitely misleading. Man vyi 14:13, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Railway?[edit]

The map near the top of the page definitely suggests there is a rail line on Alderney, with one end in St Anne. Yet there's no mention of any rail transportation in the Transportation section. My copy editing[edit]

I made some fairly extensive copy edits to the article only to get an "edit conflict" warning when I tried to save them. Checking the article's history, as far as I can see the only conflicting edit was to correct a spelling error (which I had missed, by the by). I therefore incorporated that change into "my" text, which I substituted in its entirety. Not about St Anne[edit]

Various parts of the article are about Alderney but not about St Anne, so should be deleted (or moved to the Alderney article if not already there). E.g. the Transport section. 90.198.224.197 (talk) 16:44, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What does this article mean by the term 'mainland'?[edit]

As Alderney, unlike the mainland, is not covered by the National Health Service, the hospital is effectively a private practice

What is the mainland in this case? I am from the Isle of Man and we generally prefer not to refer to the UK as the mainland because that implies that the island is part of the UK, which it is not. The Isle of Man also has its own health service known as the Isle of Man NHS. Is this the case with Alderney and Guernsey?
