Who wore one as casual clothing for the first time, and When was that? Michael 18:07, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It could be argued that Yves Saint Laurent popularised this look in the 1970s. However I have no official basis for this (better than nothing I suppose). There could also be a link with the Chanel, and the new look she introduced in the 1920s.--Poray 10:57, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They were probably worn as casual clothing for so long you could never say who was 'first'. I know that British Army officers wore private purchase bush jackets in WWI. In fact, it seems that they were originally private purchase items by officers in India, not an invention by the idiotic fashion crowds of Europe. TaylorSAllen 01:40, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article redirects from Shooting jacket, however, I believe that is a functionally different and unrelated style of clothing. miracleworker5263 (talk) 22:58, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they're COMPLETELY different! A shooting jacket is usually tweedy, is pleated so that the shooter can raise their arms to fire a gun, and has huge pockets designed to hold entire birds. Good spot - that is definitely an inappropriate redirect and needs to go to a more appropriate page. Mabalu (talk) 01:14, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
