The Arab raid was one against the Vatican, which is outside the Walls of Rome. The inclusion of it on this page is disingenuous, misleading and factually inaccurate. Sleath56 (talk) 03:44, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

@Sleath56: won't be better to put this events in the wikipedia page with a simple note that the was against the vatican ? So it would more clear for readers ? Especially that this marks a major event for the presence of arabs in southern italy.

Also the event was called by arab historians at that time as `غزو رومية العظمى ` wich translates to razzia of great rome. So it matches well the content of this page.Fyhgfthj (talk) 17:31, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

If the Arab raid of 846 improperly called sack above should be listed on this page according to Fyhgfthj then shoudn't the page name be changed accordingly?

@ICE77:. I don't think yoy've got my point. The problem here is not between wether it was a "sack" or a mere "raid" (even though there is a very thin difference between the two words) but is thatas stated by Sleath56 the attack was on the Vatican city and not on rome. But I wanted to say that at this point of history there was not a real difference between vaitican (as a city) and rome. Since Vatican was considered as a part of the latter. Wich I suggested to be noted with the event (while adding it).

Fyhgfthj, I read your and my initial comments again. It seems like you wanted to add the Arab 846 incursion on this page. My understanding was that the Arabs targeted the Vatican which was basically the same thing as Rome. Hence, you think the 846 indursion, whether labeled as Arab raid against Rome as it currently is or Arab sack of Rome, should be listed on this page. If that is the case I see your point. However, I see the raid is listed in the "See also" section right now and, at the same time, I also see links to "battles" and "sieges" so maybe the "raid" should be in its own page/category and not on this page to maintain consistency.

Should the siege of Rome of 549–550 be part of this page which lists sacks of Rome?
