I have a recommendation. In the section that addresses Sabu's gimmick, when it mentions he very rarely speaks in character, it should also address his most visible and oft-repeated physical signature--pointing to the sky and looking upwards. Possible meanings of this signature should be discussed, such as pointing to Allah, fitting Sabu's character as an Arab, and most likely a Muslim. Edit: Actually, I will add it myself. Ok, someone added in something about Sabu having smelly socks and underwear and also said something about him being a "dingus". Clearly someone wants to be an idiot, but I am going to delete it. Sabu had smelly socks so Ranock moved out because he could'nt get to sleep because of Sabu's socks and his smelly underwear hahahahahahahahahahaha. Born To Be Wired[edit]

quoting from article "It was Sabu and Terry Funk who created one of the most violent matches seen on televised wrestling in a barbed wire match on August 9th, 1997 at ECW's Born To Be Wired event."

This is false, as it was NEVER televised. It was filmed for a commercial ECW video, not for ECW Hardcore TV. Although small clips were shown on tv, it was far too violent to be fully aired. If it was aired ECW most likely would've been dropped by some markets. HANGING ROCK — Two wrestling superstars from Extreme Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment may be tough in the ring, but they didn't have enough muscle to escape drug charges after being stopped Sunday night by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Robert Alex Szatowski, aka WWE and ECW champion Rob Van Dam, and Terry Michael Brunk, aka Sabu, also a former ECW champion, were pulled over on U.S. 52, near Patrick Street in Hanging Rock at about 10:15 p.m. The two were apparently driving from their performances at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena earlier in the evening.

According to the OSHP, Szatowski was initially stopped for speeding. When troopers approached his vehicle, they smelled marijuana and performed a search. Troopers found the wrestler in possession of 18 grams of marijuana and five Vicodin, prescription pain pills. Brunk was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and also had nine pills that were not immediately identifiable, but were known to be controlled substances, according to the OSHP. Both were cited and posted bond at the scene.

Szatowski, of Battle Creek, Mich., has had a long, successful career with both the WWE and ECW. In addition to being the current champion of both, he has been intercontinental champion six times, hardcore champion four times and has been a part of several championship tag team duos.

He is scheduled to wrestle tonight on WWE Raw and is also wrestling Tuesday night to retain his WWE and ECW titles during the "Extreme Rules Match" on the Sci-Fi channel.

Both Brunk and Szatowski are scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. Thursday in Ironton Municipal Court. Both wrestlers won their matches last night in Huntington, W.Va. Van Dam defeated the Big Show and Sabu defeated Justin Credible.

Sabu really needs to be a disambiguation page. There are many topics that go by "Sabu", including multiple people. Even figuring out how to comment here on the naming issue was confusing, and my journey stemmed from just trying to sort out an unclear link to a person identified only as "Sabu". World Champion recognize[edit]

I don't know, but if you read the Mr. Kennedy interview about the MitB http://www.wwe.com/shows/wrestlemania/exclusives/42607961, they talks about Kennedy beating 7 world champions. If you see the World Champions criteria, Sabu it's just a one time World Champion, but a NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Isn't that a fact for any article in Wikipedia? Actually, he's held 3 World Titles: ECW, NWA and XPW. However, WWE.com only covers those who are either former WWF/WWE and/or WCW World Champs. But technically, you're absolutely right. Opening paragraph[edit]

I think the opening paragraph should be altered a little bit. It says that Sabu developed his high-risk hardcore wrestling technique while in ECW. Sabu was doing high risk stuff before he was in ECW. I think a more appropriate wording would be that Sabu refined his high-risk hardcore wrestling technique while in ECW. Why isn't Rob Van Dam's article being changed to Robert Szatkowski then? Most people (Wrestling fans included) don't even know Sabu's real name and even other wrestlers refer to him by his ring name in shoots and the like, so why change this when the vast majority of celebrity articles on Wikipedia use stage names, pen names etc? Cocoa Samoa Redirect[edit]

The current redirect of Cocoa Samoa to Terry Brunk is incorrect. Cocoa/Coco Samoa was the wrestling name of John Reiher who worked the Memphis territory briefly as "Sabu the Wildman." Big Time Wrestling went out of business in 1980. Georgia Championship Wrestling took over Michigan and Ohio and ran shows there regularly until Jim Crockett took them over. I think there are probably multiple independent promotions run under the BTW moniker. Just to clear a few things up: yes, "Big Time Wrestling" was a common brand name and television program title for wrestling programs for many years. When I say "Ed Farhat", I'm referring to Ed Farhat aka "The Sheik", who died at the beginning of 2003, which means that he most certainly is not still promoting wrestling events. Ed Farhat, Jr. was an announcer and promoter for his father, so perhaps that's what you're referring to. The Big Time Wrestling I was talking about was Johnny Doyle's old Detroit-based promotion, which was one of the hottest territories in the entire United States from about the end of the 1960s to the latter part of the middle 1970s. Though I was born in the Great Lakes region, I didn't start watching wrestling until late 1979, when we had already moved to Alaska, cable television was a brand-new thing and Georgia Championship Wrestling was the ONLY thing on cable worth watching (curiously, my first memory of GCW was of Bobby Heenan managing Killer Karl Kox, the latter of whom was a big star in Detroit some years before). Resultantly, I have no firsthand knowledge of the fate of Farhat's promotion, just what I've read from numerous accounts (both wrestling-centric and not) of the auto industry being in dire straights in 1979 and 1980 and the ripple effect it had on the economy in Michigan. The same thing happened with multiple wrestling promotions in the oil-patch states of the southern U.S. during 1985–89 when oil prices collapsed. Here in Alaska, another place heavily reliant upon the oil economy, the majority of our financial institutions (e.g. banks and S&Ls, though not necessarily limited to that) went out of business due to being too heavily invested in real estate. As I watched GCW on-and-off during the early 1980s, they did bumpers wherein Freddie Miller would announce upcoming shows, with a great many of them in Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia rather than Georgia. Jim Barnett and Verne Gagne took advantage of their superior television exposure and expanded their respective territories into dead or dying "rival" territories in the early 1980s, which could very well have motivated Vince McMahon's expansion a few years later. As for AWWL, I'm sure I've watched episodes on YouTube before and had the impression it was George Cannon's promotion, and could very well have been the same as the Windsor-based television program referred to in his article. I try to avoid YouTube when I'm connected through my phone, as it eats up my data limit. However, I was on another computer the other day and looked up AWWL again just to be sure. I guess the Cannon program/promotion I refer to above was something else. The lineage of AWWL to The Sheik is made obvious not only by the usage of the Big Time Wrestling title, but the endless recycling of old clips of his matches and the constant presence of Sabu in other segments. However, we should avoid making a big deal out of this promotion just because it's "the latest fashion". There's an obvious world of difference between selling out Cobo Arena in Detroit every two weeks for years and years and years, and selling out a high school or community center gym in Monroe every now and then.
