Some info based on HRS volume 6 pages 167 to 169

  • Christened by Oberbürgermeister (mayor) Dr. Georg von Schuh (has German Wiki article) info on page 168
  • laid down on 16 January 1906; p. 168
  • Hans Bohrdt apparently made a painting of the sinking. The German name of the painting was “Der letzte Mann” (the last man). According to the British eye-witness account, four German sailors held the flag up high and went down with the ship. HRS page 169.
