Untitled[edit]

I'm surprised this page did not already exist. I plan to graduate in 2011 with a BS in Biomedical Engineering, and am quite familiar with the school, and will only become more-so over the next three years. I will edit it as I have free time. If you are in the SoE, contribute! If you are a graduate or were at one time affiliated with the SoE, contribute! If you are not, please help us out, but _please_ don't undo the work I (and hopefully my peers) will put into this.

October 15th, 2008[edit]

The Rutgers School of Engineering - originally created in 1914 when it was located on the College Avenue campus in a small building located by the Zimmerli Museum. It currently resides on the Busch campus and consists of a large number of buildings comprising of the following Engineering programs: Biomedical, Chemical & Biochemical, Civil & Environmental, Electrical & Computer, Industrial & Systems, Materials Science & Engineering and Mechanical & Aerospace. A recent addition to this has been Packaging Engineering. Rutgers is one of the very few Universities in the nation to have a Packaging Engineering program.

Major revision - September 23, 2008[edit]

The7thone1188, thank you for taking the initiative and getting this page started. I ended up going against your suggestion though, and pretty much completely revised the content of the article.

Here are a few items I figure the article needs:

I have added several references, but I believe that having plenty of good references is a major key to credible articles.
Who actually awards the B.S. degrees? It is not the SOE. It used to be the College, e.g. Rutgers College, Livingston College, etc., with which an SOE student was primarily affiliated. However, with the recent creation of the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS), I am not sure anymore. A suitable references, preferably from SAS, might do the trick.
This article definitely needs to list in detail the research centers within the SOE, and any that the SOE is affiliated with. The SOE website provides a very scanty list of these. Such a list might have to be complied from the individual department websites.
Facts (numbers) about student enrollment, number of faculty, official numbers of degrees (and programs), research centers, etc., would be a nice addition to the introductory text of the article. Perhaps this info can be gotten from B-100, or from a publication of the Registrar's office, but without a published having the numbers is pointless as they cannot be used here.
Superlatives, such as the date/year when the first B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees were awarded, the names of the awardees, etc., would also very nicely augment this article.
Pictures. Maybe the entrance of the Engineering Building (with lawns in front), the Center for Ceramics Research (CCR), the new biomed building, CAIP, etc.? I'll try to take some if possible and release to public-domain.
List of Notable Faculty! This is gonna be a task.
List of Notable Alumni! This is also gonna be a task.
