Points of selling[edit]

"Points of interest
The Rowley River and marsh is a popular hunting spot for mallard and black duck. The Village Pancake House in Rowley has also been a long time family meeting place. Probably the most popular (and most famous) attraction in Rowley is the Agawam Diner located at the corner of Rt. 1 and Rt. 133. Popular musician Elvis Costello filmed the music video for his song "45" at the Diner. The Salt Marsh Antiques is a popular destination, especially during summer months when the Todd Farm Flea Market on Sunday mornings attracts treasure hunters from far and wide."

The problem with this concept and this paragraph is that it concentrates on places of business; i.e., it is advertising for the Agawam Diner, Todd Farm, and the rest. I can't tell you how many Sunday mornings I've spent at Todd Farm or how often eaten at the Agawam Diner, but that isn't the point. I'm just as interested in the local grocery store, the Clam Box, the auto repair shops, the pharmacies, etc., etc., etc. These are not encyclopedic points of interest, they are businesses selling goods and services and are not to be advertised on WP. I find my chiropractor and my book stores really quite interesting also, but I refuse to give you their names. And Im taking these names out. As for the ducks, well, I know of absolutely no one who hunts ducks. If they tried it they would be arrested except during the season and for a limited nymber of kills. Why would you eat ducks? Everyone in New England knows they are far too greasy to make a good meal. Duck? Yuk. The colonials, they ate everything; they had to. My grandmother prepared squirrels and rabbits and could discuss the merits of the meat of various small animals and she wasn't even colonial. The great depression, you know. I don't know what the urge is to get out there in the marsh with a shotgun but not too many still do it. If you are going to have a section on points of interest, use some local points of interest, either natural or historical or something that does not try to sell something on WP. That's the policy. Pronunciation[edit]

How does one correctly pronounce the name of this town? Does the first syllable have an "oh" sound (like "row your boat"), or an "ow" sound (like "how do I pronounce this?") Thanks! –BMRR (talk) 21:23, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
