This is the place that has all or nearly all of the data, some artifacts of what happened when a UFO had crashed there in 1947. Some of the artifacts allegedly depict some of the derbis found, the alleged assault of people by US Army personnel concearning the UFO crash. The building is built with a flying saucer crashing into the building, and states"International UFO Museum".

Roswell UFO Incident as mentioned in the Roswell, NM article[edit]

I'm concerned that some of the folks who are in revert wars as well as others who just don't have the stomach for that in the "Roswell UFO Incident" category are coming to the Roswell, NM article to try to give it a UFO spin. The Roswell article is for the TOWN, period. The UFO Incident article is for the UFO Incident! Isn't that obvious? Anyhow, I intend to try to keep the UFO content to a bare minimum in the Roswell NM article. Notable Resident. Ed Mitchell?[edit]

Astronaut Ed Mitchell was asked by Howard Hughes on his Internet Radio Programme The Unexplained if The U.S. really had Aliens at Roswell replied; 'well I grew up in Roswell so I think I would have found out if there really were Aliens held there' (The Unexplained Feb 2011). Wiki article states Mr Mitchell was raised in Texas, no mention of Roswell.Johnwrd (talk) 23:36, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Erroneous Data in Article[edit]

Relevant to this article, I find the climate data highly erroneous. I happen to live VERY close to Roswell, and I can personally verify that the weather is described more akin to the weather found in Albuquerque than in the Roswell area. Roswell MIGHT get one 1-inch (25.4mm) snow per year, and it is a VERY rare event that the daily high temperature doesn't exceed freezing. An average late-December day is 60°F for a high, and 25°F for a low. This persists into January, with warming starting mid-February. The coldest month is January, not October-November, and frequent high-winds during the winter are routine. Actual climatalogical data supports what I am saying. The winters are normally dry (and you must take that into account for an area that gets 10-14 inches (250-300mm) of rainfall per year). A better temperature climate picture can be seen on the Intellicast website, and general climate information relative to precipitation can be seen on several sites that will verify the desert climate for very low rainfall.

It should also be noted that Roswell is mentioned as 'being in the high plains', but Roswell's elevation above MSL is only 3,750-ft, which would qualify it for 'plains' or 'intermediate plains', but for the fact that it is NOT in the plains, nor is it at one-mile elevation, using the term 'high plains' for Roswell is like saying that New York City is in the Smoky Mountains. Roswell is in, and part of the Chihuahua Desert, not the High Plains (which are moreso recognized as the locations above the Ogalala Aquifer, in the areas of western Nebraska, eastern Colorado, western North and South Dakota, and parts of eastern Montana.

Non-Indigenous Settlers[edit]

The History section refers to, "The first non-indigenous settlers." If you're indigenous, you can't be a settler by definition, and vice-versa. Wouldn't it be more correct to say Western, European, or modern in place of non-indigenous?

indigenous: 1. Originating and living or occurring naturally in an area or environment. 2. Intrinsic; innate.

settler: a person who goes to live in a new place where usually there are few or no people.
