Belgium[edit]

As a Belgian, I'm flattered that my country is mentioned in this article but I don't think it appropriate. Belgium was founded in 1830, roughly ten years after Calvert died. The name "Belgium" was taken artifically from a Roman-era tribe, and had not been used in centuries, so Calvert would definitely never have called herself Belgian. I think therefore the use of the word may mislead Americans who read this article and who may think it was a country when she was alive.

I think someone should look into a better way of describing her. Maybe she can be described as an Antwerp lady. I think at the time Belgium was called the Habsburg Netherlands, so maybe she can be called that instead. 65.94.45.100 (talk) 06:43, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Quite right. There was no Belgium in 1794. It should be the Low Countries or perhaps the Southern Netherlands. I have picked the former. --- Asteuartw (talk) 08:40, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
