June 2014[edit]

This seems to be a vanity page written by his staff with mention of his self-published books and other un notable activities.

He deserves a mention on the ANDEV page and the miners hall of fame but not his own vanity wikipedia page.

Sorry, but no. As you can see from the fully referenced article, he is a prominent businessman and libertarian advocate globally. Besides, I am extremely suspicious of an unregistered account trying to get articles deleted.Zigzig20s (talk) 15:01, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of information during AFD[edit]

Hello. The same editor who originally suggested this page for deletion as a "vanity page" has deleted some of Ron Manners's edited books. This does not look to me to be very neutral, or right.Zigzig20s (talk) 16:06, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Now they have also deleted his other books. Am I allowed to add them back, or should I just let unregistered accounts delete info?Zigzig20s (talk) 16:12, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Moot point. I added them back. – S. Rich (talk) 16:58, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for doing that. I thought it was a problem when it was happening.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:03, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Some of his books have been removed again by the same unregistered account, still during the AFD.Zigzig20s (talk) 09:02, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Administrator User:Number 57 has protected the page and asks me to ask if we should indeed keep the bibliography section. I vote YES, because it is good to know what books Ron Manners has written and seems relevant to this article, just as we list the books written by Jane Austen on her page, etc. I am not sure if anyone else will see this or vote. Have a nice day.Zigzig20s (talk) 12:13, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The books listing was restored by Number 57. The reason that IP gave for the inartful removal was invalid. IP said self-published books are not notable. This is a POV and not in keeping with WP practice. The standard for WP content is based on noteworthiness. – S. Rich (talk) 16:25, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Primary sources[edit]

Just for clarification, in case it wasn't obvious, I added the "primary sources" cleanup template because the majority of the article relies on Manners' various promotional online profiles i.e. at Mannkal (his company) and GLG (a professional networking business), which are used to cite almost everything. True, if there is an independent source that cites the same fact perhaps the online profile citation should be removed. Sionk (talk) 10:17, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting to see there is a "For more information click here" link on his Mannkal profile, which suggests he is using Wikipedia as an extension of his website. Sionk (talk) 10:26, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
