List of communes and parishes: Removal[edit]

I propose the removal of the entire list of communes and parishes of the diocese of Aosta on several grounds:

(1) They are not properly identified as a parish list. (2) They are not referenced by any source. (3) Most of the links are to hagiographical Wikipedia entries on saints, not to the parishes. There is no contribution to the article on the diocese of Aosta. Wikipedia entries do not count as references. (4) The entries for communes contain nothing of value for the article on the diocese of Aosta. They are Wikilinks, which do not count as references. (5) The entries are trivia, which provide no information for the diocese, and could be briefly summarized rather than extensively listed. Alternatively, they could form a separate List article.

I moved a section so that the parishes now have a heading, and a general summary, which I think is sufficient. I still think that the list should be made a separate list article or be deleted. --Vicedomino (talk) 08:06, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removed flag of Republic of Italy[edit]

I removed the Italian Republic flag (of 1946) icon from the Infobox, in accordance with several sections of WP:ICON; specifically (quoting),

Generally, flag icons should not be used in infoboxes, even when there is a "country", "nationality" or equivalent field: they are unnecessarily distracting and give undue prominence to one field among many....
Flags make simple, blunt statements about nationality, while words can express the facts with more complexity. [Ivrea was for many centuries part of the Lombard Kingdom, of the German Empire, of the Kingdom of Sardinia, the French Republic, the Empire of Napoleon I, and under the domination of the French and the Spanish at various times. The Italian flag used was that of the Republic of Italy, not created until 1946]....
Do not rewrite history. Flags should not be used to misrepresent the nationality of a historical figure [including some bishops], event, object, etc. Political boundaries change, often over the span of a biographical article subject's lifetime. Where ambiguity or confusion could result, it is better not to use a flag at all, and where one is genuinely needed, use the historically accurate flag.
