I've edited the part about the Archbishop demanding priests collect signatures for the Referendum. There was never any requirement for any parish or priest to do this and the Archbishop merely stated his support for it. Many orthodox parishes very obedient to the Archbishop, such as Blessed Sacrament Parish in Seattle, never circulated the petitions at all for this very reason. There was nothing rebellious about it, because it was only a suggestion.

As riveting as The Stranger's libel is, there is simply no justification for implying otherwise here. The petitions were voluntary and were not forced upon any church, but the previous language on this page would imply otherwise.

Referendum 74[edit]

This church's stance on Referendum 74 needs to be included in the article.

" Opposition to the bill was coordinated largely by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle, which encouraged support for rejecting the bill among all parishes.[23] Parishes planned "in-pew donations as part of what it is calling Preserve Marriage month" and NOM was expected to bring in additional money from outside the state.[24][25] " I think this should be included in the article on this church.
