From Wikipedia:PROTECT#Semi-protection: Semi-protection should not be used as a pre-emptive measure against vandalism that has not yet occurred. We've so far had one instance of vandalism from a user who has now been indef blocked. If we see more from many new/anon users, then we should semi-protect it. Yes, I am well aware of John Seigenthaler, a man who devoted years of his career to speaking out against Wikipedia after an event which led to major changes in WP's editing policies. I see no evidence that Judge Vinson cared about this incident at all. The NY Times article linked above even says specifically that he "took it all in stride." If you can find any proof that this had any impact on Vinson's career or that anyone will care about this 10 years from now, then go ahead and re-add it. While I certainly understand the desire to include this episode in the article I don't see the significance. It looks like it's blown over already and is not going to have any kind of impact on Vinson's career or legacy. The important thing is that Limbaugh said this, not that Wikipedia was his source. The coverage does have a little bit of information on his personal life as well; it seems usually a line or so is included in articles like this. —innotata 16:44, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
