Anglos[edit]

While Roderick has an original etymology, it has also been used as the english form of a wide variety of names (as an anglo). Should there not be a section here listing Roderick's use as an "Anglo" since Roderick was historically used as such. It would also increase cross referencing since any historical figure for whom "Roderick" was use as the anglo of their original name would be more easily accessed - even if the figure themselves is not listed. 18:51, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Roderick (name) as title[edit]

On 13 November 2008, Berig moved this article from Roderick (name) to Roderick, citing in the edit summary: "moved Roderick (name) to Roderick: the "(name)" part is superfluous." The "(name)" portion of the title was part of a uniform article naming practice that identifies articles that are about the individual name, as opposed to disambiguation pages (not articles) that list extant Wikipedia articles. --Bejnar (talk) 19:00, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, if you feel it's important, I move it back.--Berig (talk) 19:31, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The (name) part is indeed unnecessary. There are numerous name articles at the simple title. The parenthetical phrase is only needed if disambiguation is necessary. olderwiser 01:28, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed.--Berig (talk) 05:57, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article "Roderick (name)" entirely overlooked the Gaelic form of the name, namely, Ruairidh [ROO-a-ree]. In addition, this is where the English name "Rory" comes from, e.g., Rory Calhoun. Isn't there also a Rory Grant? Roderick D. Goman 75.49.21.83 (talk) 11:54, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
