Numbering of the name and the lordship differ[edit]

Apparently his name was Robert V de Brus, (his uncle was named Robert IV de Brus), but he was 4th Lord of Annandale. Please see the DNB ref. -Arch dude (talk) 04:04, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried to consult the DNB, but having problems. Consulting the old version now available online, they give the first Robert de Brus as the father of the first Lord of Annandale, but there could be some doubt about the historicity of this person, going by our Robert de Brus, 1st Lord of Annandale article. I feel we should just ditch these numberings and go by their number as Lord of Annandale, that's clearer. PatGallacher (talk) 13:40, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The name numbering is a nightmare, and is apparently inconsistent in different references. The Annandale numbering does appear to be consistent.-Arch dude (talk) 17:57, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
