Money awarded for damages[edit]

Several sources say that Bell was awarded £2000 in damages plus costs from the British Medical Journal and Dr. Bashford. However, an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association says he was awarded $10,000 [1]. I believe £2,000 is more accurate but it might be worth citing this article as it contains useful information. Bashford original article is also online [2]. Thanks, it might be worth having it in a note next to the amount in the article Throughthemind (talk) 18:10, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Correct date of birth[edit]

@Psychologist Guy Have you got any sources on the correct date of birth for Bell? Anti-Vivisection and the Profession of Medicine in Britain gives it as 1845, the Vegetarian Messenger obituary gives it as 1846, and this source (which I think is the same Robert Bell) gives it as 1861. Robert Bell was definitely born in 1845. If you want the best biography of his life, it is here [3] which would be a good reference to expand the article. He was born in Alnwick. He published a lot of other medical works such as "Tuberculosis and its Successful Treatment" and was also a poet. If you read Bell's autobiography [4] he gives his birth date as January 6, 1845. Based on newspaper obituaries I think the death date was 21 January 1926 [5], it would be good to cite the full date. I will look for other sources. Psychologist Guy (talk) 23:04, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. It appears that Robert Gordon Bell, is another person with the same name who also attended the same university, but at a later date Throughthemind (talk) 11:12, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
