Trial details[edit]
I can't track down the original source, however I am quite positive that one of the reasons that Robert Baltovich was acquitted was that Ricardo Bain, the murdered woman's father was found to have lied to police and then attempted to persuade the crown to allow him to lie under oath at the second trial. This is very significant because it means that one reason the Crown did not present evidence was that their original evidence was shown to be false.
The best reference I could find using Google was a report from Rabble, however this is not a first party witness, so it cannot be considered sufficient to be a source. The Rabble piece is: http://archive.rabble.ca/babble/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=009929
Good luck,
