tavern keeper in Wales[edit]

Smith was a fellow of Merton College and Principal of St Albans, Oxford, and Regius Professor of Divinity, 1535-1548. Smith wrote two books against Vermigli. In later years after returning to Oxford, Smith was banished for adultery and eventually became a tavern keeper in Wales.
