Running time and viewing slot on BBC2[edit]

"The BBC2 broadcasts have a slightly shorter running time and contain less information than the original National Geographic DVD releases. On average about one minute of footage in every episode has been edited out."

There is a 50 minute viewing slot for a programme claimed to run for 45 minutes... yet there are claims of one minute of cuts when shown on the BBC. Even with a minute or two of continuity and programme trailers there is still plenty of time for a 45 minute programme to be shown in its entirety.

Where is the evidence for the 'cuts' or even the length of the programme ? For instance the Formula 1 episode shown on 15th May 2011 on BBC2 was 48 mins 57 seconds (in a 50 minute slot) so the 45 minute episode length doesn't even stand scrutiny. 78.105.243.103 (talk) 13:15, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The cuts only refer to the first two seasons. There are no NGN DVD releases of the third series available, so no comparison can be made for the F1 episode (yet). Finding a source is difficult as no official site states the exact running time of the episodes, but these differences definitely exist. For example the intros are slightly rearranged in the beginning, sometimes one or two additional statements are made from Hammond or left out. It depends of the episode. Throughout the running time there are several parts/whole scenes either left out or cut shorter.
The end credits (fonts, size, appereance, etc.) are also very different (stills vs rolling credits). 93.128.9.38 (talk) 01:24, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
