Always far-right?[edit]

Is there anything to corroborate the assertion that Edmonds was once a member of the Labour Party? I appreciate that a lot of people on the far-Right begin in left-wing politics, so it wouldn't be unusual or out-of-place, even if true, but it somehow just doesn't seem to quite fit with Edmonds and he doesn't mention it in any of the biographical interviews I have heard him give. He did work as a teacher, apparently, but in an interview I heard him give recently he stated that he had misgivings about immigration quite early on, while at university in fact, or even before then - which would suggest a fairly narrow window for Labour Party membership. I'm not suggesting the assertion should be deleted, I'm just curious as to whether it can be sourced in the standard way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:861A:9C00:AC03:B166:F0E7:E87E (talk) 10:01, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In a word - no. It was added a few years ago by a user who made several unsourced additions to both this article and other NF-related ones. I personally have never encountered the assertion anywhere but here. No source so I've removed it. Keresaspa (talk) 16:57, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Following on from the above - there was a London County Council/GLC politician of the same name - a web search under 'Richard Edmonds GLC' gives several references (mostly via Google Books). Bare details here]. Does this clarify things? Jackiespeel (talk) 16:18, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, what a scandalous non-encyclopaedic ultra-biased Far-Left article. Speaks volumes about Wikipedia. 2A00:23C4:B63A:1800:5956:A1BB:7B1A:264 (talk) 11:06, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
