History section is incomplete[edit]

The History section is comprised mainly of 19th-20th century stories of the church and rectory buildings, and the occupants of the rectory. Most statements, even those in quote marks, are unsourced. I have done some searching for sources of the village's history, finding only the site with evidence of Roman and early Anglo-Saxon settlement. Can anyone supply when the Welsh settled and named the village? Ellis Peters (Edith Pargeter) used the village for the setting of a key scene in her third novel, Monk's Hood, set in 1138, suggesting the village was well established then. The name is not in the Domesday Book indexes, as it was Wales, I suppose, the place William set out to conquer, once he had conquered England.
