Times article[edit]

This article by Anthony Loyd in The Times (22 February 2022) looks into some issues that the article should maybe touch on, namely some controversy about the real-life right-wing gang past of lead actor Serhii Filimonov (uk:Філімонов_Сергій_Федорович), and whether

the public acclaim and awards given to Filimonov for his Rhino role, with scarcely any reference to his previous history, have served to condone right-wing violence and inspire its followers.

According to Sensov

[Filimonov] had this animal power from his football hooliganism past. I need someone with the past of a predator -- and someone who had experienced a similar journey of change.

The issue of Filimonov and Honor (uk:Гонор (рух)) goes to the core of the way in which far-right organisations and individuals seek to make a hateful creed mainstream, either through MMA (mixed martial arts), sometimes heavy metal music, or in this case, a film that wins international awards.
