Contradictory/Incorrect Information about Canada and Europe[edit]

This article currently contains contradictory information about Canada. The summary asserts (without reference) that resort fees are illegal in Canada and Europe. However, the Location section asserts (also without reference) that "A handful of hotels in Canada have also recently taken up the practice." This citation in the summary (for the term 'destination fee') is indeed a hotel in Ottawa and its management confirmed in the linked page that, not only do they charge the fee, but nearly all hotels in Ottawa do and at least some in Quebec. As a result, I am removing the apparently-erroneous statement that these fees are illegal in Canada. If you want to add it back, please find a reference to cite.

Additionally, the Location section asserts (once again without citation) that, in Europe, advertised prices should include all actual costs and that booking includes all costs. This is, at the very least, misleading, if not just outright false. Perhaps there is a law that requires all fees and taxes to be disclosed, but there are frequently at least taxes in Europe that are not included in the advertised room rates and which, like resort fees, are paid separately at the time of the stay. Such taxes exist presently in both Paris and Rome, for example (source: very recent personal experience and also just re-confirmed by looking around at a few different booking sites, such as this one.) While these charges are eventually disclosed prior to booking, they're not shown in the advertised room rates when searching, nor are they included in the charge when booking. This is the same manner in which resort fees and taxes are required by law to be disclosed in the U.S., so it would seem that the contrast implied by this paragraph is not actually correct. As a result, I'm also removing this sentence regarding Europe. If you want to add it back, please find an actual citation and reword to make clear which charges are actually required to be included. Clearly, not all of them are. Vbscript2 (talk) 17:48, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
