Starting sentence[edit]

@HaEr48: My main purpose was to identify the period in which the resettlement policy was active. If readers who never heard of the Neo-Assyrian Empire stumbled across this article, they would be confused.

I got the reign of Ashur-dan II as the starting point from the chart displayed behind Radner in her video Focus on Population Management (here). The chart (originally by Oded) lists the rulers from Ashur-dan II to Ashurbanipal. Since Ashur-dan II is the first ruler listed, I therefore take the reign of Ashur-dan II as the starting point of deportations, at least so far as Radner and Oded are concerned.

How about one of us inserts the following inline citation:

"In the three centuries starting with the reign of Ashur-dan II (934-912 BCE),^[1] the Neo-Assyrian Empire practiced a policy of resettlement..."?

@RoyGoldsmith: Ah, thanks for providing references. I added it this way, is that okay with you? I agree that it's helpful for readers to roughly locate when the events of this article happened.
