It split off from its parent company, Remington Arms, in the early nineteenth century (revisited)

Looks like the text was edited and changed to "early twentieth century", probably to adjust to that "1927" date. Well, I'm still not happy with this. A arms manufacturer splits out a typewritters and computers manufacturer (which also made guns, anyway?). Fine. What about verifiable contents, what about that "[citation needed]" deal?
Well. So I googled for a while and found this page: Remington Company History
If this page is valid as a reference or not, I cannot say - I prefer to leave that for more experienced wikipeople. But if it valid, then:

  • 1873 - E. Remington & Sons embarked on a new venture, and in September of 1873, the first Remington typewriters were produced.
  • 1886 - Remington sells the typewriter business. This business would later become Remington Rand, then Sperry Rand.

Looks like this clarifies what happened. 19th century it was. These events connect to [Remington Typewriter Company] which eventually leads to that "1927" merge.
If an experienced Wikipedia editor (which I'm not...) finds this interesting, please do feel free to use this material (I do not dare to...). Thanks 95.136.93.104 (talk) 19:33, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
