Wording for "algorithm"[edit]

The article has the sentence

"In the statistical learning theory framework, an algorithm is a strategy for choosing a function..."

This sounds weird, like it's trying to redefine what the word "algorithm" means. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.78.96.76 (talk) 08:24, 5 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is this article really necessary?[edit]

This brings no information not present in other SVMs or regularization articles. Is it useful to have it? thisbugisonfire (talk) 16:24, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could move it all into SVM - perhaps as a new section initially, then merge/de-dup. - Rod57 (talk) 10:18, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why 'perspectives' in the article name[edit]

Is "perspectives" in the name due to a translation or the article being based on a publication of that name ? - Rod57 (talk) 10:18, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
