Other countries[edit]

The Registered Trademark symbol is not restricted to the United States and is also used in other countries, such as the United Kingdom.

Why limit the Article to the scope of the United States in such a way?

Coca-Cola in China uses 注 in a circle (short for 注册商标 resigtered trademark) next to their Chinese trademark. No other Chinese company seem to do this. Kakurady (talk) 22:22, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I once heard that the symbol is meaningless in Europe because it's a US thing. So I decided to look that up, but the article is unclear on that.DirkvdM (talk) 11:03, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Python Language Trademark Policy[edit]

Should we mention Python's trademark policy in this article? It seems like that information is not adding a lot of value here. Dprust (talk) 19:36, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia policy?[edit]

Is there a working policy on the use of this symbol in articles? The question arose with the latest edit of Genuine wealth assessment. Gabriel Kielland (talk) 12:35, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As a general rule, don't use them. See MOS:TMRULES. Tomas e (talk) 20:22, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Second paragraph is confusing[edit]

The second paragraph starts talking about "Trademarks not officially registered", then says "The proper manner to display these symbols...is commonly in superscript style but is not legally required." This appears to address the styling of unregistered trademarks and service marks, but how registered trademarks are supposed to be styled does not appear to be addressed anywhere. natmal (talk) 20:05, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Trademark Symbol" article vs. "Registered Trademark Symbol" article: "Trademark" disambiguation page needed?[edit]

The articles for "Trademark Symbol" and "Registered Trademark Symbol" are not well cross-correlated. Should there be an overall "Trademark" disambiguation page to include those two, as well as "Service Mark" and the "Trademark" article itself? At a minimum, I would encourage improvements to the existing articles to explicate, at the top of each article, the differences. I (perhaps like the general public?) was unaware that all those distinctions are important but I belatedly found that out as a result of my confusion browsing those pages. Just a thought. (Also: here is a useful Forbes article on the subject: [1] Timbuk-2 (talk) 21:14, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Trademark dispute case[edit]

Did you read about this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-65624635 can this be added on Wikipedia? Info123.1234 (talk) 08:06, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, because it is not about the trademark symbol. (And it is not an unusual trademark dispute – such cases are quite common – so I can't see that it would find a place in any other Wikipedia article.) --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 11:12, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
