Removal of history[edit]

As part of a CCI, I noticed that the history section of this article is substantially similar to this site.

I also checked the Internet archive and confirmed that the site (and the relevant text) existed prior to the edit.

A complete rewrite of the history section is beyond the scope of what I can do, so I am removing it from the article. Before anyone undertakes to write an independent history, I plan to write to the Kansas historical Society to see if they would be willing to license the text. If that happens, I will restore the section but if that fails to be an option I will note that here in some editor will have to undertake an appropriate discussion of the history.

It is a normal practice to rev-del edits involved in copyright issues. I am not going to do so immediately, to give some time to other editors who may have worked in this section to determine whether there's anything that they wish to preserve. I don't think that's the case but I don't want to presume.--S Philbrick(Talk) 00:39, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
