The link under the heading "Dan Ryan extension" about different proposals does not go anywhere.

Proposed stations in the listing[edit]

Transfers column in station listing section[edit]

I don't really think that it is necessary to have a transfer column in the station listing section because there is already a map in the infobox that shows transfers between the train services! Can we please discuss why that is necessary because I'm trying to improve pages on the site to make them look better! The Smell of Magic 04:17, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not convinced that this is adding any value. The CTA's train lines are known as the "Red Line", the "Blue Line", the "Brown Line" etc., and not as the "CTA Red Line". The official website and all branding material refer this way as well. "Red Line (CTA)" helps disambiguate it from other "Red Lines" around the world. Do you have any examples of how "CTA <color> Line" is being used commonplace? Silvestertaylor (talk) 19:09, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here's an example from the CTA itself: Before entering the Loop and at the end of each line, an automated voice announcement says "Thank you for riding the CTA <color> Line." JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 19:15, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose, but I don't think that's convincing. I think it's reasonable for the CTA to have different spoken announcements than what's written down.
To compare, the CTA's own webpage describes it as thus:

The Red Line provides 24-hour train service between Howard on the North Side and 95th/Dan Ryan on the South Side via subway through downtown Chicago.

The CTA's branding guidelines also make it clear that it's the "<color> Line".
If there was more consensus on this change, then I will support it. Given what's available right now, I feel that making this change would only cause more confusion.

  • Oppose. Voice announcements aren't a good way to determine the proper name of a line. Natural disambiguation can be helpful, but moreso when dealing with descriptive names. Mackensen (talk) 19:43, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
