Redirect and lack of Disambiguation Page[edit]

When you type in "Red Island" it takes you directly to "Rote Insel," a neighbourhood of Berlin.

I'm sure Red Island, NL, isn't the only other Red Island in the world. Perhaps there should be a disambiguation page for "Red Island"? I'm new and burdened with a heavy workload at the moment, so I don't know how to make such a thing and don't have time to learn it at the moment. Trollcollins 05:57, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Both this article and Red Island Placentia, Newfoundland and Labrador refer to the same place. The articles should be merged.

=[edit]

I would concur with the suggestion to merge the "Red Island Placentia" entry with the "Red Island" one.

My "credentials" for making this suggestion is that several generations of my Mother's family lived on Red Island before the relocations of the 1960's, and although I have lived elsewhere for a number of decades, I continue to spend a portion of my annual vacation in that area, partly for the purpose of visiting relatives who still live there.

To my knowledge, the three-word term "Red Island Placentia" has never been used to describe the island, although it was typically (including postally) referred to as "Red Island, Placentia Bay", using a format common to many other communities in the large bays that ring the coast of Newfoundland.
