Rowlf from the Muppets

I remember seeing Rowlf the Dog in a Red Barn commercial (before 1966). Has anyone seen a reliable source for this? JustinTime55 (talk) 21:35, 4 March 2016 (UTC)

There was a Red Barn restaurant near my family home in 1970. I recall it going out of business around the time I graduated High School in 1984. The building still exists today, having been a liquor store for many years. I never knew there was more than one restaurant, even though it had that chain-store feel about it. I don't recall ever having seen a TV commercial or anything remotely resembling a promotion. WriterWithNoName (talk) 18:59, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Original history (1961) may need updating

The article states that the first RB restaurant was founded in 1961 in Springfield, Ohio, by Don Six, Martin Levine, and Jim Kirst.

As a high-school student then, I worked as a cook in that restaurant in 1961. My own memory is that it was a family-owned business, run by the Goldberg brothers, Irving and Julius. They hired me and both of them supervised the daily operation of the store. There were no other managers in the store. I don't recall any mention of Six, Levine or Kirst.

Perhaps they were involved as investors or developers, but neither Irving or Julius ever mentioned them as far as I can remember. Irving's son Steve was a classmate of mine in school (but did not work in the restaurant).

I graduated in 1962 and later learned that the store was sold to Parkmoor, and was to be franchised as a fast-food chain restaurant.

It was a great first job for me. And I loved those 19-cent hamburgers. Jdagius (talk) 10:52, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
