Untitled[edit]

This man was a leader in Toronto for the jewish community and has just passed away. This is just the beggining - i am not a proffessional writter but i'm sure others will edit it and make it more encyclopedic.

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Please see WP:BIO and provide sources to establish the subject's notability. Of course, the need for sources goes beyond notability. Information added to an article must be verifiable, and facts included must be attributed to a reliable source. Please also see WP:NOT#MEMORIAL. Thanks. --Evb-wiki (talk) 17:10, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I intend to fix it up. Please allow for others to help by not deleting it immediatelyMyteemouse (talk) 17:35, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What else should i do to ensure this page won't be deleted?Myteemouse (talk) 17:35, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

as the reviewing administrator,I decline to delete it via speedy, for some degree of importance is asserted as a community leader. Whether it is sufficient, can be tested via AfD; Even the original version was good enough that the speedy tag should not have been applied--any assertion passes speedy. See WP:CSD
What is needed to support the article is references from published sources, print or online, in english or in other language, that are independent of his congregation, and talk about him in a substantial way. If you can find them, add them as references; if they are not online, add a brief excerpt. Ideally they should explain why he is in fact a leader of his community--the chief rabbi of a major city, for example, is usually considered notable. If he has published material, in english or Hebrew or Yiddish or any other language, list it. If anyone has commented on his published material or his work, in any language, include it as a reference. Does Toronto have a Jewish newspaper? they are usually considered suitable sources.
Be absolutely certain, however, you are not re-publshing material from any print or online source, such as a published obituary. You must re-write such material completely in your own words, not just paraphrase it.
I've put an "in construction" tag on the article, which should keep it here for 10 days, if you are actively working on it.
